D-subminiature connectors

D-subminiature connectors or D-sub connectors are sturdy electrical connectors with a mating face shaped like the letter D. They provide polarization because male and female connectors can fit together in only one way. Male connectors plug into receptacles, jacks, and outlets. Female connectors contain sockets for pins from other devices. The number of pins or sockets in D-subminiature connectors corresponds to the number of wires in the cable. To accommodate different arrangements of pins, D-sub connectors are available in five standard shell sizes: DA, DB, DC, DD, and DE. The contact pitch or distance between pins ranges from as small as 0.0197'' or 0.5 mm to as large as 0.20" or 5.08 mm. High-density and double-density pin arrangements are commonly available.

As a premier connector supplier, BTC also has the largest hermetic connector inventory in the world and has a wide array of D-Subminiature Hermetic Connectors manufactured to the requirements of Mil-C-24308/9. One example is  Hermetic Seal Series 5000. These Hermetic Rectangular Connectors are standard cold-rolled or stainless steel body material and come with #52 alloy gold plated contacts. While other finishes are available, the standard finish is electro-tin fused and the insulator is made of a compression sealed glass.

The ideal use for these connectors is in electronic and electrical equipment, for commercial and defense, airborne, ground support or shipboard systems. The size and weight lend the connector to various applications and the D shape ensures a positive polarization.
